I. SACRED OBJECTS IN MACEDONIA

Purpose of research:

Studying the architecture, frescoes, paintings and carvings in sacred objects from the Byzantine period, and Macedonian Renaissance.

II. VISUAL ART IN PELAGONIA UNDER OTTOMAN RULE UNTIL BALKANS WARS

 

Project Duration: 2001 - 2003 година

Purpose of research:

Numerous monuments of church architecture, frescoes, icons and  carvings created during the Ottoman slavery undoubtedly play a significant role in the creation and development of the national art and culture. Bearing in mind that full investigations has not been made in our historiography, the need for systematic research and studies to identify and verify the monuments of art especially from late byzantine period until the time of liberation from Ottoman rule and  Balkan wars on the territory of Diocese Pelagonija.

III. MONUMENTS OF MURAL PAINTING BY THE POST-BYZANTINE PERIOD IN PELAGONY METROPOLIS

 

Project Duration: 2004 - 2006 година

Purpose of research:

The research project "Monuments of Byzantine wall painting from post byzantine period in Pelagonija Metropolis" aims at systematic surveys and studies to identify and verify the monuments of Byzantine wall painting time in one of the oldest and largest metropolises of the Ohrid Archbishopric - Pelagonia. Given that most of these monuments in the previous period were not investigated or were only partially explored, today they require to be  systematically and comprehensively studied and presented to the scientists as well in front of the wider public. With a comprehensive presentation of the material and establishing overall chronology, a new topography of the central part of Macedonia will be presented,  and will open new perspectives to understand the Byzantine period as one of the richest areas of the artistic creation at the time of Ottoman rule not only in Macedonia but in the central parts of the Balkans.

IV. MONUMENTS OF WALL PAINTING FROM THE TIME OF RENEISSANCE IN METROPOLIS OF PELAGONIA

Investigations purpose:

 

Bearing in mind that in our historiography has not been made a full research and systematic study of wall painting from the time of the Revival which appears as a boundary between post-bizantine art and in the beginnings of the Macedonian contemporary art, we find it necessary to enlighten the artistic activity the territory of the Diocese Pelagonia - one of the oldest and largest metropolises of the Ohrid Archbishopric in whose territory they recorded about 216 monuments of wall painting from the time of the Revival. Revealing the names of patrons and donors, the participation of local builders and artists who follow the traditions of Byzantine architecture and painting, studies the action painters of the School and Miyak Krushevo acting workshops in this area will provide greater certainty which will determine their place in the recent history of Macedonian art. The survey results will provide an objective interpretation of the development of art from the time of rebirth and will write new pages for the history of culture and in one of the most metropolitan art of Ohrid Archbishopric.
